darby
My name is Darby. First and foremost I am a horse. I am an American Cream Draft and have been told I’m quite rare. I came to live at the Serenity Ranch in 2018, with my mom Bridger who sadly for me passed away three years ago. I was 21 when she passed away and I miss her every day. I was born in Montana and my previous caregiver was a lovely lady. She was terminally ill so she could no longer take care of us. I love Susanne and Lisa but it’s been hard for me to adjust as my previous caregiver took care of me for 17 years. But I have grown to trust and love them. We moved to Connecticut 2 1/2 years ago and I have grown to love my new home with my herd of 30 other horses. I know that a lot of the horses at The Serenity Ranch were rescued from neglect and abuse but I’m one of the lucky ones as I have always had love in my life. Have never gone without food and water and can’t imagine how awful that must be. My most favorite thing is to be brushed down with cold water in the hot summer months, Aunty Lisa does that for me every day. Sometimes I miss the snow and the mountains but have never had so much green grass to eat. Thank you for reading about me, I’m beautiful and confident and kind and love attention.
